To celebrate our people, the heart of Plantman, we hosted the annual highlight of our social calendar—Plantman’s Cultural Day.
This event coincides with World Day for Cultural Diversity on 21 May, a global date promoting understanding and respect for different cultures, traditions, and beliefs.
Celebrating cultural diversity helps us learn about the experiences, histories, and contributions of various groups and increases awareness of our rich diversity, an important value Plantman embodies.
On 14 May 2024, the Plantman workshop was transformed into an outdoor long-table lunch under the dome, filled with the enticing aroma of Filipino cuisine and adorned with colourful decorations from around the globe.
Managing Director Michael Elliot welcomed all staff with a heartfelt Acknowledgement of Country, honouring Australia's Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander culture and specifically recognising the Whadjuk people of the Noongar Nation, the traditional custodians of the land where Plantman operates.
This also allowed Michael to announce Plantman's journey alongside the not-for-profit organisation, Reconciliation Australia, where a Reconciliation Action Plan (RAP) will be developed throughout 2024. The purpose of developing a RAP enhance cultural awareness and inclusivity, strengthen community relationships, and improve business sustainability and reputation in the mining industry, establishing Plantman as a socially responsible and ethical business.
Following lunch, the karaoke machine provided endless entertainment among staff, and we captured a brilliant team photo atop a Plantman Service Truck. With a few new faces in the crowd, this was a great opportunity for all employees from different areas of the business to socialise, including some family members who joined us for the afternoon.
This event not only celebrated our diverse culture but also strengthened our team spirit. We eagerly look forward to hosting many more meaningful team events like Cultural Day.

From the start working with Frank regarding setting up a different style of service body was more than helpful, and this enabled us to get a truck that meets our requirements. Pricing was good and there were no issues when we made changes when they were requested. The response was excellent, I have made multiple requests to have other things added and modified from learnings here on-site and these were done to a great standard. The delivery was good even due to the Covid restrictions. We were very happy with the result and will be recommending Plantman if requested and hopefully dealing with Plantman in the future when we upgrade trucks again. The flatbed has been very well received across the MEM department. As expected it was delivered in a clean and ready-to-go condition as promised and all facets of the truck have been put to good use. Overall everyone is impressed with the truck and having it on-site has allowed for work to flow a lot smoother.
